Uncommon Radio #9 features Nasa and Cirrus Minor hosting.  Our friend Myster Bruce (aka db Grant aka Huge Voodoo) passed away in April and we just found out.  In this episode during all the background beds are joints from his first album "Emphatic Phorms").  We closed the episode out with a rarely heard track Bruce did with Mike Ladd.

We also played joints from Mos Def (pictured), Wu-Tang's Chamber Music project as well as tracks from Isaiah the Toothtaker, Self Says, IZReal, Phenetiks and more.

We also got Cirrus to attempt naming some rappers on a rap song he had never heard before.  This may become a regular game here at Uncommon Radio.

Uncommon Radio #8 features in studio guest The Protege (pictured) along with Deto-22 & Roc1 (both from the Phenetiks crew which The Protege is also a part of).  Also in the house is Dirt E. Dutch, owner of Little Ax Records & the voice behind the well known Indie Feed Hip-Hop Podcasts.

The Protege breaks down his new album "Untitled Is Hard Enough", which we've played joints from here previously on Uncommon Radio.  He gets into the science of the sound, concepts and building of the record.  We played more joints from it along with other Phenetiks projects and some exclusives.

We also had some conversations with the Phenetiks crew about mediocrity in hip-hop and in culture and talked with Dirt E. Dutch about his starting of Little Ax & the roots of Indie Feed Hip-Hop.

Plus we ended with The Protege getting loose on the mic with a freestyle session.  We also played a full show worth of music too!  For full playlists of what is spun on Uncommon Radio make sure you sign up for the mailing list at www.uncommonmusic.net so that your not having to hit rewind all the time to see what dope track we just played!

Episode #4 is a very special episode!  We played ONLY tracks from releases that have been made available for FREE by the artist online.  Making this the first official FREE Episode of Uncommon Radio!  Well, all episodes of UR are Free, but you get the point.  In addition to Nasa hosting once again, he was joined by Cirrus Minor, also of The Presence.

Somehow neither Nasa or Cirrus had ever heard Nas' "Where Are They Now (90's Remix)" so we ran the track without knowing who was on it and decided to play the game of naming who was on the track by voice only.  In the next segment we came back with the "Google Machines" results and figured out how much we knew or didn't know.  Some classic comedy there.

We also played a live version of The Presence's upcoming track "Quarter to Freedom", in addition to new FREE music from Illogic (pictured here), A-Plus, Teddy Faley and none other then Chip-Fu!  All that and much more, enjoy this nearly 60 minute special episode!

This is the first of our long awaited re-airings from the pre-podcast era of the show.   Pumpkinhead came by Nasa Labs last year to record this episode where he talked about his full length album "Orange Moon Over Brooklyn" produced by Marco Polo.  He also got into his thoughts on the 'Battle Scene' and dropped a fire freestyle at the end.  We played tracks that were unreleased as well as some from his LP and Mix CD, Park Slope Renaisance.  We will be re-airing other Uncommon Radio episodes week by week starting now, next week will be The Juggaknots.
